Monday Morning Photo - Wisteria Time in Andalucia

How quickly spring comes around after the short winter here in the Sierra Sur de Jaén. After lots of very much needed rain we´re back to the normal cloudless blue.  My garden is shooting incredbily with the moisture and now sunshine. And my beautiful wisteria flowers grandly albeit it short-lived. The big black carpenter bees love it. Each flowering season reminds me of the Botanical Gardens in Malaga and the ´tunnel´ of wisteria that I haven´t yet caught in bloom. Olive Picking's Over

Yes our huge harvest of olives is picked and at the factory, no more squatting and scrabbling amongst weeds to collect our crop.

My legs and back ache and we've only got five trees! I couldn't now work eight hours raking, picking up and lugging plastic buckets around like I did fifteen years ago - nor do I want to.

I shall be happy when the day comes in late March or early April when I can go to the factory and see how many litres of extra virgin olive oil they'll give me for my measly harvest.


The first year we bought Casa El Reguelo we had 45 litres of glistening golden oil, a bit more than a years supply. This year I'll be happy if we get 30 litres - what joy litres of oil stored in the cupboard gives me. It makes me feel happy and absurdly secure knowing stores are there. I may even be bottling tomatoes next.

I'll definitely be drying figs and grapes this year, my supply has dwindled to nothing, can't remember why now but I didn't dry anything last year.
