Monday Morning Photo - Wisteria Time in Andalucia

How quickly spring comes around after the short winter here in the Sierra Sur de Jaén. After lots of very much needed rain we´re back to the normal cloudless blue.  My garden is shooting incredbily with the moisture and now sunshine. And my beautiful wisteria flowers grandly albeit it short-lived. The big black carpenter bees love it. Each flowering season reminds me of the Botanical Gardens in Malaga and the ´tunnel´ of wisteria that I haven´t yet caught in bloom. April is a good time to plan to go if it´s on your list.  Here´s the botanical garden link La Concepción Botanical Gardens. And a sneaky peak at the wisteria. See the Monday Morning Photos list.

Jaen Experience Gastronomy Event

I´m writing this post as a reminder for me as well as for you to share a little about the first gastronomic “Jaen Experience” which I missed! I´m kicking myself but it is to be a yearly event. This year it was organized by Castillo de Canena Olive Juice and over 1,000 people participated tasting gastronomic dishes from six local chefs and various delicatessen products.

Some of the samples for tasting were an octopus cookie, Castillo de Canena Picual or Salmon with green apple jelly with Castillo de Canena First Day of Harvest Arbequino.

The success of this first gastronomic show offered tastings from 14 of the best bodegas in Spain, ham, caviar, smoked salmon, Spanish cava and French champagne.

There was of course plenty of extra virgin olive oil from Jaén. The CEO of Castillo de Canena Olive Juice, Francisco Vañó, said the aim was to create an annual event for “unique gourmet experiences, attractive and innovative pairings, live cookings and continuous tastings.”

Next year I´ll be there!
