Four-wheeling in Andalucia

For sun-starved UK holidaymakers, Andalucia has retained its magnetism for visitors over the centuries. Most travellers are aware of the charms of Seville and Granada and those who just want to lounge on the beach are familiar with Torremolinos and Marbella.

Those who want to take a journey of adventure should try to explore the rest of this region.

Drive

The easiest way to move about Andalucia is to examine the freedom offered by 4x4 cars. The terrain can be rugged and it’s important that you can drive around the countryside in style and comfort.

You also need to be able to rely on your transportation, breaking down is irritating and if you are in an area where mobile phone reception is patchy you may well have to take a trek to the nearest village to use a phone.

The Mercedes 4x4 and SUV range have all been designed with fuel economy in mind and they also have low CO2 emissions. The best way to really enjoy some of the motoring delights of a 4x4 is to take a trip to one of Andalucia’s National Parks.

The Sierra de Aracena Y Los Picos de Aroche Natural Park in the Huelva Province is rugged and wild and the perfect place to put your SUV to the test. The Mercedes G Class with its perfect grip and power is ideal for anyone who wants to go offroading.

The R Class family crossover will also be able to cope with multiple passengers and transport up to 7 people in its comfortable interior. The space inside this particular model is so spacious that should you choose to go camping in this wonderful region, tents, cooking equipment and possibly the ubiquitous kitchen sink can all be transported with ease.

Interior

If you wish to continue your exploration of this particular part of Andalucia then drive through the park in a southwesterly direction and visit the little town of Cortegana.

This jewel of a place is famous for its four-day medieval festival towards the end of August as well as its magnificent thirteenth century castle.

Huelva might not be the most famous part of Spain but for anyone wishing to drive to the region and enjoy an area replete with castles, magnificent landscapes and an authentic Spanish experience then this is the place for you.
